What is Tang Soo Do?Tang Soo Do is a traditional Korean Martial Art with influences from traditional Korean Karate, as well as elements of Chinese and Japanese styles. Although its routes can be traced back even farther in time, modern Tang Soo Do was founded in 1945 by Grandmaster Hwang Kee under the name Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan. Incorporating self-defense, physical fitness, and mental growth, Tang Soo Do has grown worldwide as one of the most recognized and traditional martial arts.
Tang Soo Do incorporates both kicks and punches in its system of self-defense. Students learn traditional Korean forms, along with sparring, board breaking, and weapons, to create a well rounded individual, helping them become as successful as possible in all areas of life. |

Barley's Karate is a proud member of the Pan-Am Tang Soo Do Federation, an international federation of Tang Soo Do schools, under the instruction of Grandmaster Chong Su Kim. Both Barley's Karate and the Pan-Am TSD Federation hold a high standard of martial arts instruction and through our membership , Barley's Karate is an accredited martial arts school within a family of some of the best martial artists in the country and worldwide.
